Job summary

Bendigobank is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead technical strategy across its Wealth domain. You will guide large-scale platform evolution, bridging business goals with robust engineering solutions for secure, scalable systems.

Youll mentor engineers, drive best practices in testing, observability, and CI/CD, and ensure alignment with industry standards like ASX CHESS upgrades. The role blends hands-on work with strategic influence.

Qualifications

• Proven ability in software architecture, integrated and distributed systems design, and large-scale platform evolution.
• Hands-on engineering capabilities across COBOL, .NET, Java, and advanced SQL.
• Strong knowledge of consumer wealth operations and market connectivity protocols (ASX CHESS).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of core wealth systems and platforms.
• Shape technical direction by reducing complexity and defining strong interface contracts.
• Bridge business strategy with engineering solutions as the primary technical translator.
• Promote testing, observability, security, performance, and CI/CD best practices.
• Uplift engineering quality by reducing technical debt across core processes and APIs.
• Mentor and coach engineers to foster technical excellence.
