AFCA is seeking an experienced Senior People Advisor to join the People & Culture team on a fixed-term contract through to 30 June 2027. The role focuses on providing practical HR guidance across employee relations and the full employee lifecycle, coaching fellow advisers, and maintaining advisory quality during an HRIS implementation.

You will collaborate with Payroll, Legal and Risk while supporting ongoing improvements to processes and policy governance, all within a flexible, inclusive

Competenze

• Significant hands-on HR generalist experience at a senior advisory level.
• Strong experience independently managing employee relations and employee lifecycle matters.
• Deep knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards.
• Experience interpreting and applying industrial instruments and People policies in practical workplace situations.
• Strong judgement and confidence assessing risk and navigating sensitive or complex people matters.
• Experience coaching other HR professionals, reviewing advice and building capability without formal leadership responsibility.
• Practical experience with People policy governance, review and implementation.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and build trusted stakeholder relationships; translate complex requirements into clear advice.
• A relevant HR qualification and professional credentials.

• Provide practical, commercially sound advice across employee relations and lifecycle matters.
• Assess risk, manage complex matters and know when to escalate to specialists.
• Act as escalation point for People Advisors and Coordinators; provide coaching and quality reviews.
• Support triage, prioritisation and consistent case management across the team.
• Help embed our tiered People service model with clear workflows and escalation paths.
• Oversee People policy governance including review cycles, approvals and publication.
• Review and simplify policies, procedures and guidance for practicality and compliance.
• Identify opportunities to improve advisory processes, workflows and service delivery.
• Provide input into HRIS testing and readiness activities as needed.
• Partner with Payroll, Legal and Risk and other teams.
