Job summary

Townsville Hospital and Health Service is seeking an Advanced Peer Worker (Lived Experienced) in Townsville, QLD. The role centres on coaching peer workers, delivering recovery-focused education to staff, and leveraging lived experience to support consumers and families.

The position is permanent part-time (60.8 hours per fortnight) with competitive salary and benefits. Applicants will be required to meet Blue Card requirements and have relevant qualifications.

Qualifications

• Personal lived/living experience of mental illness and/or substance use challenges is a genuine occupational requirement.
• Blue Card/working with children check required prior to appointment.
• Experience in public mental health service or NGO sector is highly desirable.
• Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or ability to undertake this qualification is highly desirable.
• This is a VPD risk role.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring to facilitate education and development of peer workers.
• Provide education opportunities to staff to develop understanding of recovery framework and lived experience.
• Utilise lived experience to assist in the development and delivery of consumer and carer support groups and psycho-education sessions.
