Job summary

Lawson Elliott Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer for a part-time, four-month contract covering long service leave. You will own the end-to-end payroll cycle, ensure pay runs are accurate and on time, and act as a trusted contact for employees and managers.

Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, you will update records, calculate entitlements, apply awards, manage STP and superannuation obligations, and reconcile accounts.

Qualifications

• Extensive end-to-end payroll experience in Australian payroll systems.
• Sound understanding of Australian payroll legislation and award interpretation.
• Organised, accurate and able to work independently; quick to learn new payroll system.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end payroll cycle, ensuring every pay run is accurate and on time.
• Update and maintain employee records, including new starters, changes and exits.
• Calculate leave entitlements, terminations and final pays.
• Apply award, enterprise agreement and contract conditions.
• Handle STP reporting, superannuation and PAYG obligations.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare reports for the finance team.
• Answer employee payroll queries clearly and promptly.
• Partner with People and Culture on payroll-related changes and improvements.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join the business on a part-time, 4-month contract covering long service leave. Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, you'll manage the payroll cycle from start to finish and be a trusted point of contact for employees and managers. Your responsibilities will include:

Owning the end-to-end payroll cycle, making sure every pay run is accurate and on time

To be considered for this role, you'll have extensive end-to-end payroll experience and a sound understanding of Australian payroll legislation and award interpretation. You're organised, accurate and comfortable working on your own, and you can pick up a new payroll system quickly. You communicate well with people at every level and treat sensitive information with discretion. Part-time availability for the full 4-month contract is essential.
