Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join their national payroll team in Australia. You will manage end-to-end payroll for a large employee base, ensure accuracy, deadlines and compliance while handling complex payments and payroll tax.

This six‑month maternity leave contract offers flexible working arrangements and the possibility of remote work after training, with easy onsite parking and a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering end-to-end payroll in medium to large organisations.
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax, superannuation and statutory payments.
• Ability to reconcile and resolve payroll discrepancies with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Process fortnightly payroll accurately and on time for the workforce.
• Manage payroll lifecycle from onboarding to termination.
• Review timesheets, allowances, wages and leave requests.
• Perform month-end reporting and reconciliations.
• Handle payroll tax, superannuation and statutory remittances.
• Respond to payroll queries and ensure data integrity.

• Processing the fortnightly payroll accurately and within deadlines
• Managing the employee payroll lifecycle from onboarding to termination
• Reviewing timesheets, allowances, wages and leave applications
• Calculating annual leave, terminations, allowances and other payments
• Completing payroll reconciliations and month-end reporting
• Processing payroll tax, superannuation and statutory remittances
• Investigating payroll discrepancies and resolving employee queries
• Interpreting awards, enterprise agreements and employment conditions
• Maintaining accurate payroll records and employee information
• Supporting the Payroll Manager with senior payroll responsibilities
• Acting as a key payroll contact during the Payroll Manager's planned leave

A successful Senior Payroll Officer should have:

• Strong end-to-end payroll experience within a medium to large organisation
• Experience processing high-volume, complex payrolls
• Previous exposure to payroll tax, superannuation and month-end activities
• A strong understanding of awards, enterprise agreements and legislation
• Experience completing payroll reconciliations and statutory payments
• The ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies
• Confidence working independently and taking ownership of your workload
