Jobwire in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to own complex payroll operations for 400-600 employees per week. The role is hands-on and hybrid (1 day WFH). You will manage end-to-end payroll processing, provide expert advice, and lead payroll system projects to drive improvements.

Ideal candidates will have 4+ years in payroll, advanced Excel, and strong ledger knowledge. This is a senior, growth-focused position within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage weekly and Fortnightly payroll for 400-600 employees.
• Investigate and resolve complex payroll queries for clients and employees.
• Perform reconciliations and statutory lodgements (PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, WorkCover).
• Prepare management and regulatory reporting, including labour hire licensing.
• Lead or contribute to payroll system projects and process redesign initiatives.
• Mentor junior payroll staff and support a collaborative, high-performing team.

Senior Payroll Officer - Brisbane | Hybrid WFH

The role:

Due to growth, our client is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to take ownership of complex payroll operations for approx. 400-600 employees per week. You'll manage end-to-end processing, provide expert advice, drive process improvements, and contribute to payroll system projects.

This is a hands-on, hybrid role (1 day WFH).

What you'll do:

Manage weekly and fortnightly payroll, including onboarding, terminations, and commission payments.

Investigate and resolve complex payroll queries for clients and employees.

Perform reconciliations and statutory lodgements (PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, WorkCover).

Prepare management and regulatory reporting, including labour hire licensing.

Lead or contribute to payroll system projects and process redesign initiatives.

Mentor junior payroll staff and support a collaborative, high-performing team.

What we're looking for:

Minimum 4 years' experience in payroll (recruitment, labour hire, or outsourced payroll is desirable).

Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data manipulation).

Strong general ledger knowledge and experience with payroll/finance systems.

Solid understanding of Australian awards, PAYG, payroll tax, and superannuation.
