Humero Recruitment Partners is supporting a well-established Australian transport and logistics organisation to recruit a Payroll Specialist for a permanent full-time role based in Brisbane’s inner northern suburbs. You will be the go-to payroll expert for a national workforce, partnering with Finance, HR and operational leaders in a collaborative team.

• Experience in Payroll Specialist, Senior Payroll Officer or similar covering full payroll cycle.
• Knowledge of Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements and Australian payroll legislation.
• Ability to handle complex terminations and superannuation obligations.

Responsibilities

• Own the fortnightly pay run end to end from timesheet validation to final sign-off and payment.
• Apply entitlements across full-time, casual and hybrid employees, including allowances and back payments.
• Manage onboarding, pay changes and exits including redundancy and settlements.
• Calculate and audit long service leave and leave balances with correct tax treatment.
• Oversee superannuation, salary packaging, novated leasing and parental leave payments with HR.
• Deliver payroll reporting and variance insights to senior stakeholders; support Accounts Payable with disbursement reporting.

About the Opportunity

Humero Recruitment Partners are exclusively partnering with a well‑established Australian transport and logistics organisation to recruit a Payroll Specialist for a permanent full‑time role based in Brisbane's inner northern suburbs, with an immediate start or short notice period start ideally preferred.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Payroll Specialist or Senior Payroll Officer professional who enjoys owning their work and solving complex pay queries. You'll be the go-to payroll expert for a national workforce, partnering with Finance, HR and operational leaders in a collaborative team where your input is valued.

The Role

Sitting within the Finance team, you will be responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of a fortnightly payroll cycle covering a varied workforce and a range of employment arrangements. The role blends hands‑on processing with technical entitlement work and reporting, and suits someone who is comfortable working independently, spotting issues early and getting them resolved with the right people.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the fortnightly pay run end to end, from timesheet validation and overtime through to final sign-off and payment
• Apply award and agreement entitlements correctly across full-time, casual and hybrid employees, including allowances and back payments
• Manage the full employee lifecycle in payroll, from onboarding and pay changes through to exits, including redundancy and other termination settlements
• Calculate and audit long service leave and leave balances, ensuring correct tax treatment on all payments
• Oversee superannuation, salary packaging, novated leasing and parental leave payments in partnership with HR
• Deliver clear payroll reporting and variance insights to senior stakeholders, and support Accounts Payable with disbursement reporting

About You

• Demonstrated experience in a Payroll Specialist, Senior Payroll Officer or similar role covering the full payroll cycle
• Sound knowledge of Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements and Australian payroll legislation
• Confident handling complex terminations, LSL calculations and superannuation obligations
• Analytical and detail-focused, with the ability to reconcile and explain variances clearly
• Strong communicator who can build trust with HR, finance and operational stakeholders
• Experience supporting a shift-based or multi-site workforce highly regarded
