Job summary

Laundy Hotels is seeking a Senior Payroll Team Leader to lead a small payroll team at our Lane Cove Head Office. You will oversee weekly payroll for over 2,000 employees, ensure accuracy, and maintain compliance with industry awards.

Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, you will drive process improvements, mentor payroll officers, and collaborate with HR, Finance and IT to optimise our payroll system and outputs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in payroll
• Experience in leading a payroll team
• Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards and compliance

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the payroll team in processing payroll for 2,000+ employees on a weekly basis
• Allocate workloads across the payroll team and monitor progress to meet deadlines
• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and support to payroll officers
• Act as the first point of escalation for complex payroll issues
• Review payroll processes for accuracy, compliance and award adherence
• Interpret and communicate industry awards, especially Hospitality Industry, to the team
• Support payroll officers with complex queries and ensure timely responses
• Collaborate with Systems Manager on payroll system changes and testing
• Oversee payroll compliance activities including superannuation, entitlements and tax obligations
• Assist with year-end payroll activities and reporting
