Job summary

Marist180 is seeking a dedicated Payroll and Accounts Officer to oversee end-to-end payroll processing and related accounting activities in Blacktown. The role ensures accuracy, timeliness and compliance with legislation, awards and organisational policies, while supporting payroll data integrity and HR/payroll system integrations.

You will provide expert advice on remuneration matters, contribute to process improvements and support year-end reconciliations across payroll and finance functions.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting, Human Resources or a related discipline.
• At least five years of demonstrated experience in payroll administration or a similar role, preferably within the residential care sector.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with relevant legislation, awards and organisational policies.
• Coordinate with HR and administrative teams to maintain accurate payroll data, review timesheets and leave records, and ensure seamless integration between HR and payroll systems.
• Prepare payroll reports and analyse payroll data to support business decisions, identify discrepancies and recommend process improvements.
• Provide expert advice on payroll, remuneration and compensation matters, including salary increases and payroll adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards (NES), SCHADS Award and other relevant legislation.
• Calculate and process termination and redundancy payments, salary adjustments and other entitlements.
• Manage superannuation remittances and support workers’ compensation returns and other regulatory reports.
• Respond to payroll enquiries and liaise with external auditors as required.
• Support year-end reconciliations for superannuation, FBT, PAYG, long service leave and annual leave.
• Maintain payroll records and data entry within required timeframes.
• Coordinate payroll onboarding for new employees.
• Contribute to payroll HRIS and financial systems improvements.
• Monitor payroll legislation changes to maintain compliance.
