Job summary

Cuscal Limited, a long‑standing payments innovator in Australia, seeks a Lead Engineer to own settlements and disputes technical delivery. You will work with product owners and squads to convert core banking needs into robust software solutions, balancing hands‑on coding with platform and delivery considerations.

The role requires leadership, domain knowledge in payments, and experience with modern deployment and automation practices.

Qualifications

Experienced software engineer with leadership experience.
Domain knowledge in Payments, Settlements and Disputes.
Hands-on with designing, building and delivering software solutions.
Experience implementing development automation, CI/CD, test automation, DevOps practices.
Strong knowledge of scalability, performance, resilience and disaster recovery.
Programming experience with Java or Node.js.
Knowledge across AWS cloud components.
Experience reviewing code and supporting developers and testers through design, build and delivery.
Ability to identify delivery risks, sequence technical work and resolve roadblocks.

Responsibilities

Lead technical solution design and delivery aligned with domain architecture strategies.
Provide hands-on engineering support and help developers resolve technical challenges.
Review code and ensure solutions meet quality, security and engineering standards.
Identify technical risks, dependencies and roadblocks and drive resolution.
Embed development, testing and operations practices across the squad.
Contribute to strategic technical roadmaps with product and architecture teams.
