Job summary

Cuscal is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for Settlements and Disputes to lead technical design, mentor engineers and align delivery with domain architecture. The role blends hands-on coding with strategic capability building across product and platform teams.

You’ll drive CI/CD, code reviews, performance and security standards, and ensure reliable deployments. Experience in payments domain and strong communication with stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a software engineer with leadership experience.
• Domain knowledge in Payments, Settlements and Disputes.
• Hands-on experience designing, building and delivering software solutions.
• Experience implementing automation, CI/CD, test automation, DevOps practices.
• Strong knowledge of scalability, performance, resilience and disaster recovery.
• Programming experience with Java or Node.js.
• Experience reviewing code and mentoring developers.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical solution design and delivery aligned with domain architecture strategies.
• Provide hands-on engineering support and help developers resolve technical challenges.
• Review code and ensure solutions meet quality, security and engineering standards.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies and roadblocks and drive resolution.
• Embed development, testing and operations practices across the squad.
• Support root cause analysis, post-incident reviews and prioritise defects.
• Lead release planning, change sequencing and technical delivery decisions.
• Contribute to strategic technical roadmaps with product and architecture teams.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, standards and processes.
• Mentor engineers and uplift technical capability across the team.
