Job summary

NSW Health in Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals is seeking a Senior Outpatient Paediatric Speech Pathologist to lead advanced feeding and swallowing care for children, supervise teams and drive service development across Western Sydney.

Qualifications

• Advanced clinical knowledge with postgraduate experience in neonatal feeding and swallowing in the outpatient setting.
• Recent experience managing complex paediatric developmental feeding and swallowing disorders in outpatient settings.
• Ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team with excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Experience planning, implementing and evaluating local service delivery incorporating quality improvement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective partnerships.
• Practices Evidence Based Practice and engages in ongoing professional development.
• Current Driver's Licence is preferred.

Where you'll be working

Join the Speech Pathology team across Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals, working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment supporting children and families with complex needs. You will have the opportunity to use your specialist expertise while contributing to the ongoing development of paediatric services across Western Sydney.

Work across neonatology and paediatric caseloads with a focus on feeding and swallowing

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external community and NGO providers

Support equitable access to high-quality Speech Pathology services for children and families

Contribute to a culture of clinical excellence, learning, supervision and innovation

Help shape service development and quality improvement initiatives across the department

What you'll be doing

As a senior clinician, you will provide advanced clinical care while using your professional judgement to manage complex presentations and support high-quality outcomes. You will also play an important role in strengthening clinical capability and service delivery.

Deliver evidence-based Speech Pathology assessment and intervention for complex paediatric needs

Provide specialist consultation, education and competency development to the broader team

Provide clinical supervision to staff and students and support professional development

Lead quality improvement, research and service development initiatives

Support departmental planning, governance and administrative responsibilities as required

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and postgraduate experience and skills in the management of medically complex neonates with feeding and swallowing disorders in the outpatient setting.

Demonstrated and recent experience in managing complex paediatric developmental feeding and swallowing disorders in the outpatient setting.

Ability to work autonomously and within multidisciplinary team with minimal direct clinical supervision, displaying excellent time management and organisational skills.

Demonstrated experience in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective internal and external partnerships.

Actively practices the principles of Evidence Based Practice and engages in recent professional development for relevant clinical areas.

Current Driver's License is preferred.
