Job summary

Southern NSW Local Health District is seeking a Level 3 Social Work Senior Clinician at Blacktown Hospital to lead advanced social work practice and deliver high-quality patient-centred care within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

The role involves complex assessments, supervision of staff and students, contributing to quality improvement, and providing education and clinical support across the service, with 16 hours per week and permanent part-time arrangement.

Qualifications

  • High level clinical experience and understanding of the health-care needs of clients.
  • Experience developing policies and procedures for service improvement and staff education.
  • Strong time management and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in quality assurance and clinical practice improvement.
  • Ability to participate in the After Hours Crisis On Call Social Work Service.

  • Apply advanced practice skills to complex matters including child protection, domestic violence, elder abuse, guardianship and deterioration.
  • Provide specialist consultation and education to medical, nursing and allied health staff through in-services and seminars.
  • Lead designated portfolios and contribute to planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical services and quality improvement activities.
  • Support the development of Social Work practice through supervision, education, evidence-based practice and implementation of WSLHD policies and protocols.

Where you'll be working

Join the Social Work team at Blacktown Hospital, where you will contribute to high-quality, patient-centred care within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. This is an opportunity to bring your advanced clinical knowledge to complex presentations while supporting the development of Social Work practice across the service. You will:

  • Work autonomously as a senior clinician providing complex clinical assessment and intervention.
  • Collaborate with medical, nursing and allied health professionals to achieve positive outcomes for patients, families and carers.
  • Contribute to a culture of evidence-based practice, professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Provide clinical supervision and support to Social Work staff and students in accordance with relevant professional standards.
  • Help strengthen Social Work services through education, consultation and quality improvement initiatives.
What you'll be doing

As a Level 3 Social Work Senior Clinician, you will provide advanced clinical expertise across complex and critical presentations, using sound professional judgement and advanced reasoning to deliver high-quality care. You will:

  • Provide comprehensive Social Work assessment and intervention for patients, families and carers.
  • Apply advanced practice skills when managing complex matters including child protection, domestic violence, elder abuse, guardianship and sudden loss or deterioration.
  • Provide specialist consultation and education to medical, nursing and allied health staff through in-services, seminars and clinical support.
  • Lead designated portfolios and contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical services and quality improvement activities.
  • Support the development of Social Work practice through supervision, education, evidence-based practice and implementation of WSLHD policies and protocols.
Selection Criteria

Demonstrated high level clinical experience and understanding of the needs of clients accessing the health care system.

  • Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures for service improvement and skills in providing training and education with experience in staff and/or student supervision.
  • Well-developed time management skills with excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality assurance and / or clinical practice improvement activities.
  • Ability to participate in the After Hours Crisis On Call Social Work Service.
