Job summary

Ability Action Australia is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to support participants across the Port Macquarie region, including Kempsey, with home-based and community visits. You will work in a collaborative, supportive environment to make a meaningful impact and contribute to team development.

You will manage a caseload, provide evidence-based therapy, mentor graduates, and stay current with legislation.

Qualifications

  • Current Occupational Therapist with AHPRA registration.
  • Experience as an OT or Senior OT beyond graduation.
  • Passionate about community-based support for people with disability.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload.
  • Thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Desire to mentor graduates and early career clinicians.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an allocated caseload and deliver timely therapeutic services.
  • Assess participants' developmental, cognitive, emotional, psychological and physical function.
  • Interpret findings to formulate individualized treatment goals.
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve quality of life.
  • Maintain awareness of current legislation for compliance.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support outcomes.
  • Caseload tailored to experience and goals; support graduates.

Job Description

As our #AAA team continues to grow, we’re looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to support participants across the Port Macquarie region, covering Kempsey, depending on where you’re based - work close to home!

As an experienced clinician, you’ll bring your expertise to a supportive and collaborative environment where you can make a meaningful impact in the lives of your participants, contribute to team development, and continue growing professionally.

  • Manage an allocated caseload (based on your negotiated hours) and deliver timely therapeutic services
  • Assess participants’ developmental, cognitive, emotional, psychological and physical function and capacity through clinical observations and standardised assessments
  • Interpret findings to formulate treatment goals unique to each participant
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help participants enhance their quality of life and meet their goals
  • Maintain awareness of current legislation to ensure compliance
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to support participant outcomes
  • Caseload will be tailored to your experience, interests and professional goals
  • Support the growth and development of graduates and early career clinicians.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Current Occupational Therapy membership with AHPRA
  • Experience as an Occupational Therapist or Senior Occupational Therapist beyond graduation
  • Passionate about community‑based support for people with disability
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload
  • Thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Desire to mentor graduates and early career clinicians
