Job summary

Ability Action Australia is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our North Canberra team. This role offers an opportunity to work close to home within a supportive multidisciplinary environment, delivering person-centred therapy to participants with disability.

You will assess, plan, and implement evidence-based interventions while mentoring graduates and early career clinicians. We support flexible work arrangements and professional development within our growing nationwide network.

Qualifications

  • Current Occupational Therapy registration with AHPRA.
  • Experience as an OT or Senior OT beyond graduation.
  • Passionate about community-based support for people with disability.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Mentor graduates and early career clinicians.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an allocated caseload and deliver timely therapeutic services.
  • Assess participants’ development, cognition, emotion, and physical function.
  • Formulate treatment goals from assessments.
  • Provide evidence-based interventions to improve quality of life.
  • Maintain awareness of current legislation for compliance.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support outcomes.
  • Caseload tailored to experience and goals.
  • Support the growth and development of graduates and early career clinicians.

Job Description

We’re growing our #AAA team and looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist based in the North Canberra region. Depending on your location, you’ll have the opportunity to work close to home.

As an experienced clinician, you’ll bring your expertise to a supportive and collaborative environment where you can make a meaningful impact in the lives of your participants, contribute to team development, and continue growing professionally.

  • Manage an allocated caseload (based on your negotiated hours) and deliver timely therapeutic services
  • Assess participants’ developmental, cognitive, emotional, psychological and physical function and capacity through clinical observations and standardised assessments
  • Interpret findings to formulate treatment goals unique to each participant
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help participants enhance their quality of life and meet their goals
  • Maintain awareness of current legislation to ensure compliance
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to support participant outcomes
  • Caseload will be tailored to your experience, interests and professional goals
  • Support the growth and development of graduates and early career clinicians.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Current Occupational Therapy membership with AHPRA
  • Experience as an Occupational Therapist or Senior Occupational Therapist beyond graduation
  • Passionate about community‑based support for people with disability
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload
  • Thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Desire to mentor graduates and early career clinicians
