Mott MacDonald’s Defence Division in Adelaide seeks a Principal Safety Case Engineer to lead complex nuclear safety cases for Australia’s sovereign programme. You will provide technical assurance, mentor specialists, and engage with clients and regulators in a highly regulated environment.

The role offers relocation support for suitable candidates and opportunities to influence national capability while working with international experts across our global business.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering, physics or STEM field.
• Significant nuclear safety case or safety assurance experience.
• Experience in nuclear, defence or high-hazard regulated industries.
• Chartered status or progress toward chartership.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to influence decisions.
• Passion for coaching and mentoring others in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of complex nuclear safety cases.
• Provide technical assurance and strategic guidance across major programmes.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients and regulators.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor emerging safety professionals.
• Contribute to business growth, capability development and recruitment.
• Support the development of Australia’s sovereign nuclear engineering capability.
