Job summary

Medibank Private Limited is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our Network Operations team on a 9-month daily rate contract, paying 750 AUD per day (inc super). This role covers a large-scale enterprise network across retail stores, offices and data centres in Australia.

You will work with Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco and Zscaler, partnering with infrastructure, security and cloud teams to maintain secure, reliable, and high-performing networks while driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience managing enterprise firewall environments.
• Experience with large, distributed networks across multiple sites.
• Knowledge of network security best practices.

• Support switching, routing, wireless AP, and VPN infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and drive improvements.

• Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

We're looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our Network Operations team on an initial 9-month daily rate contract, paying $750 per day (inc super). This is an opportunity to support and enhance a large-scale enterprise network environment spanning retail stores, corporate offices and data centres across Australia.

Working across technologies including Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco and Zscaler, you'll partner closely with infrastructure, security and cloud teams to ensure our network services remain secure, reliable and high-performing. You'll have the opportunity to make an immediate impact while contributing to the ongoing evolution of a critical technology environment.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Network Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining, optimising and modernising our network landscape. You'll support a diverse and complex environment, driving operational excellence, strengthening security, and helping deliver a seamless experience for our customers and employees.

What You'll Be Doing

• Managing, maintaining, and patching enterprise firewall environments
• Supporting switching, routing, wireless access point, and VPN infrastructure
• Troubleshooting complex network issues and driving operational improvements
• Ensuring network reliability, performance, and security across a geographically distributed environment
• Supporting network compliance and security initiatives
• Managing and supporting owned network tools and platforms
• Collaborating with infrastructure, cloud, security, and project teams on key initiatives
• Contributing to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement practices

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running and bring strong operational network engineering experience within complex environments.

Ideally you'll have experience with:

• Fortinet firewalls, VPN, switching, and wireless technologies
• Palo Alto firewalls and VPN solutions
• Cisco switching and network infrastructure
• Enterprise network operations and support
• Firewall lifecycle management, upgrades, and patching

Highly regarded:

• Exposure to Zscaler
• Experience working in large, regulated environments such as healthcare, financial services, insurance, government, or other compliance-driven industries
• Familiarity with network security best practices and governance requirements
• F5 exposure
