Job summary

Bluefin Resources Pty in Sydney is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer (Networking) to join a major bank on a permanent basis. This software-first role focuses on building robust automation frameworks and testing capabilities that support day-to-day network operations.

You will design, deploy, operate, and enhance automation using Python and Ansible, and work with Ansible Automation Platform to deliver scalable automation capabilities across large networks.

Qualifications

• Expert Python experience with code reviews, pull requests, and structured problem-solving.
• Strong hands-on Ansible, including custom plugins/modules, and familiarity with infrastructure/config-as-code.
• Networking Software Development – Experience building applications in the networking domain.
• Demonstrated strong hands-on software development experience

Responsibilities

• Design deploy, operate, and enhance the software platforms and automation systems that underpin modern network engineering.
• Develop and maintain automation using Ansible and Python.
• Work with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) to deliver automation capabilities.
• Transform complex network workflows into scalable, reliable internal tools and services that improve operational efficiency and resilience.
• Collaborate closely with network engineers to understand challenges, develop innovative solutions, and continuously improve how large-scale networks are managed and automated.
