Job summary

FinXL IT Professional Services in Melbourne seeks a Senior Network Automation Engineer to design and implement automated network solutions across hybrid environments. You will develop Python and Shell scripts, work with Ansible/Terraform, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines and monitoring.

Ideal candidates combine strong networking skills with Linux proficiency and experience in cloud networking, DevOps practices, and collaboration with multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Strong networking fundamentals and complex troubleshooting skills.
• Proficient in Python and Shell scripting; able to write and debug code.
• Experience with Ansible, Terraform or similar automation tools.
• Hands-on experience with network automation, provisioning or configuration management.
• Cloud experience and understanding of cloud networking concepts.
• Experience with CI/CD, GitHub workflows and DevOps practices.
• Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with version control and maintaining automation code.
• Docker and Kubernetes exposure is desirable.
• Telecommunications or service provider network experience.
• Exposure to HFC, DOCSIS, CMTS or broadband access networks.
• Experience across carrier, access or aggregation networks.
• Monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Splunk or ELK.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement network automation solutions for network operations, provisioning and service delivery.
• Write and maintain automation scripts using Python, Shell, Ansible or similar tools.
• Automate network deployment, configuration, monitoring, testing and operational processes.
• Enhance existing automation, troubleshoot issues and improve reliability.
• Support complex network and hybrid cloud environments, including cloud networking.
• Develop and support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps or similar tools.
• Apply DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices to improve delivery.
• Contribute to automated testing and validation of network configurations and deployments.
• Work with Network Engineering, Operations, Architecture, Security and Vendors on technical solutions.
• Contribute to technical documentation, design discussions and continuous improvement.
