Job summary

Westpac is seeking a Senior Network Automation Engineer in Sydney to design, deploy, operate and enhance automation systems underpinning modern network engineering. The role focuses on turning complex network workflows into scalable internal tools, collaborating with network engineers, and improving automation platforms in a software-first environment.

Qualifications

• Experience building applications in the networking domain.
• Hands-on with Ansible and Terraform, including custom plugins/modules.
• Solid understanding of operating systems, Linux, and container platforms.
• Proficiency in Python with code reviews and PRs.
• Ability to write database queries; MongoDB knowledge.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling, Jenkins preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, operate and enhance software platforms and automation systems for network engineering.
• Collaborate with network engineers to create scalable, reliable internal tools and services.
• Build robust automation frameworks, platforms, and testing capabilities for day-to-day network operations.
