Job summary

VALE Partners have engaged an international SaaS scale-up to help grow their Australian engineering team in Melbourne. The role is a senior individual contributor split between feature development and engineering process improvement, focusing on agentic practices.

You will design and ship across the stack, contribute to CI/CD, IaC, and automated testing, and help the team elevate software quality and production readiness. This is a fast-paced startup-style environment with structure.

Qualifications

• Production work with .NET Core and TypeScript, shipping and maintaining features with long-term ownership of the codebase.
• Experience with messaging or event-driven architectures in greenfield and brownfield contexts.
• Demonstrated product thinking and shipping outcomes with considerations beyond code, like edge cases and stakeholder impacts.
• Ability to discuss technical considerations with non-technical stakeholders and navigate ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain features across the full stack using React/TypeScript on the frontend and .NET Core on the backend.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and automated testing as part of a team prioritising software quality.
• Participate in code reviews and ongoing codebase improvement aligning with engineering best practices.
• Convert AI-assisted development experiments into repeatable, secure team practices.
• Release and monitor production software on a regular cadence, owning from development to live.

This is a senior individual contributor role split between hands-on feature development and engineering process improvement, helping the team build lasting practices around agentic engineering practices.

Role Overview

• Design, build, and maintain features across the full stack, working in React/TypeScript on the frontend and .NET Core on the backend, all on Azure infrastructure.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing as part of a team that treats software quality as a first-class concern.
• Participate actively in code reviews, technical discussions and ongoing codebase improvement in line with engineering best practices.
• Convert promising AI-assisted development experiments into secure, repeatable team practices.
• Release and monitor production software on a regular cadence, taking ownership of what you ship from development through to live.

What I’m Wanting to See From Your Resume

• Production work with .NET Core and TypeScript, shipping and maintaining features in an environment where you have long term ownership of the codebase.
• Time spent with messaging and event-driven architecture, ideally in both greenfield and brownfield contexts.
• Examples of product thinking and helping to ship something with contributions beyond just the code you wrote - identifying edge cases, pushing back on assumptions etc.
• Signs you’ve discussed technical considerations with non-technical stakeholders and have worked through conflict, complications or ambiguity.
• Signs you've shipped something using agentic coding tools and loops, whether commercially or recreationally.
