Job summary

NW Technology seeks an experienced Senior Database Administrator to support critical MongoDB upgrades and migrations across SQL Server, Db2 z/OS, and Db2 Midrange for a Federal Government agency. The contract runs for 12 months with an estimated start in January 2027, in Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide, with hybrid arrangements possible.

You will plan, test and implement controlled changes, ensure data integrity and availability, and strengthen database performance and resilience in

Qualifications

Expert-level SQL Server administration: performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability and security.
Expert-level Db2 z/OS and Db2 Midrange administration.
Expert-level MongoDB administration: replication, backup and recovery, performance tuning and data consistency.
Experience delivering controlled database upgrades and migrations.
Hands-on experience supporting databases in containerised environments.
Strong troubleshooting, technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
Experience in complex government or enterprise ICT environments; knowledge transfer is a plus.
Security clearance NV1 or higher is required prior to commencement.

Responsibilities

Assess database environments and identify upgrade, compatibility, performance and operational risks.
Plan, validate and implement database upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime.
Provide performance tuning, replication, backup, recovery and production support.
Support databases in containerised environments and manage deployment risks.
Document configuration changes, upgrade procedures, risks and lessons learned.
Support knowledge transfer and skills development within agency teams.
