Job summary

NW Technology seeks an experienced Senior Database Administrator to support critical MongoDB upgrades and migrations across SQL Server, Db2 z/OS, and Db2 Midrange for a Federal Government agency. The contract runs for 12 months with an estimated start in January 2027, in Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide, with hybrid arrangements possible.

Qualifications

• Expert-level SQL Server administration: performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability and security.
• Expert-level Db2 z/OS and Db2 Midrange administration.
• Expert-level MongoDB administration: replication, backup and recovery, performance tuning and data consistency.
• Experience delivering controlled database upgrades and migrations.
• Hands-on experience supporting databases in containerised environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
• Experience in complex government or enterprise ICT environments; knowledge transfer is a plus.
• Security clearance NV1 or higher is required prior to commencement.

About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator for a contract opportunity supporting a large Federal Government agency.

The immediate priority is supporting critical MongoDB upgrades and migrations, alongside specialist database administration across SQL Server, Db2 z/OS and Db2 Midrange.

You will work closely with agency technical teams to plan, test and implement controlled changes, maintain data integrity and availability, and strengthen database performance and resilience.

What you'll do

Assess database environments and identify upgrade, compatibility, performance and operational risks.

Working arrangements: Hybrid arrangements may be considered. Candidates must live within reasonable travelling distance of the nominated office and attend onsite as required.

Security clearance: NV1 or higher must be held before commencement.

Occasional out-of-hours work may be required for scheduled upgrades or complex incidents.
