Job summary

National Workforce Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Database Administrator for a 12-month contract to support a large Federal Government agency. The role focuses on MongoDB upgrades, migrations and enterprise database administration across SQL Server, Db2 z/OS and Db2 Midrange.

You will work with agency teams to plan, test and implement changes, maintain data integrity and resilience, and deliver performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Expert-level SQL Server administration, including backup/recovery and high availability.
• Expert-level MongoDB administration, including replication, backup and recovery, performance tuning and data consistency.
• Expert-level Db2 z/OS and Db2 Midrange administration.
• Demonstrated experience delivering controlled database upgrades and migrations.
• Hands-on experience supporting databases in containerised environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
• Experience in complex government or enterprise ICT environments, and supporting technical knowledge transfer, will be highly regarded.

About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator for a contract opportunity supporting a large Federal Government agency.

The immediate priority is supporting critical MongoDB upgrades and migrations, alongside specialist database administration across SQL Server, Db2 z/OS and Db2 Midrange.

You will work closely with agency technical teams to plan, test and implement controlled changes, maintain data integrity and availability, and strengthen database performance and resilience.

Occasional out-of-hours work may be required for scheduled upgrades or complex incidents.
