Peoplebank, part of RGF Staffing ANZ, is seeking an EL1 Mobile Developer for a long-term contract to work on government mobile apps based at the ACT office. The role focuses on React Native with TypeScript, Expo modules, and native bridging using Kotlin/Java/Swift/Obj-C.

About the Role

Our Federal Government Client is seeking EL1 Mobile Developers.

This is a long‑term contract role for an initial 12-month term with extension option, located at our client's ACT office.

As The Selected Candidate, You Will

• Design, build, deploy and support the Agency's mobile applications, systems and integrations.
• Ensure solutions align with integration best practices, architectural principles and are appropriately documented.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver agreed outcomes.
• Contribute to agile project delivery within multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain high coding standards and quality.
• Ensure software meets security, accessibility and compliance requirements.
• Work closely with Business Analysts, Project Leads, QA teams and other technical teams to resolve issues and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
• Develop effective test coverage through collaboration with QA teams and adoption of shift‑left testing practices.
• Ensure solutions are practical, cost‑effective and deliver intended business outcomes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders.

To Be Successful In This Role You Should Have

• Extensive experience developing and releasing mobile applications for both Android and iOS using React Native (TypeScript), with strong preference for Expo experience.
• Proven experience bridging React Native to native mobile layers using Kotlin, Java, Swift and Objective‑C, ideally through Expo modules.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining quality in large and complex codebases.
• Strong understanding of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 and Apple and Google accessibility guidelines.
• Experience writing automated unit, component, integration and functional tests.
• Ability to work closely with QA teams to support integration and end‑to‑end testing.
• Experience integrating mobile applications with REST and GraphQL APIs, authentication services and performance monitoring tools.
• Proven ability to translate UI designs into mobile application components and collaborate with UX/UI designers to deliver a consistent user experience.

It Is Desirable If You Have

• Experience using AI development tools and approaches such as spec‑driven development.
• Strong DevOps experience including CI/CD pipeline development using GitHub, Artifactory and HashiCorp Vault.
• Experience developing back‑end systems using technologies such as Golang and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Helm.
• Ability to contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment and ongoing support.
• Demonstrated willingness to participate in after‑hours on‑call support rosters for critical business systems.

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance.
