Job summary

BHP Peak Downs is seeking an experienced Superintendent Coal Mining to lead on-site operations, focusing on safety, productivity, and cost management across a large-scale open-cut coal operation in Queensland.

You will report to the Manager Production Load and Haul, guiding planning horizons, weekly plan development, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining regulatory compliance and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large-scale open-cut coal mining operations.
• Proven leadership in safety, productivity and team development.
• Strong understanding of mine planning, scheduling and execution.
• Ability to lead diverse, high-performance teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Effectively assigning and communicating tasks to teams and team members.

• Resolving resourcing and scheduling issues to deliver the plan.
• Providing input into all planning horizons.
• Contribute to the development of the weekly plan.
• Identify performance enhancing initiatives.

• Analyse variances, trends, risks and opportunities across shifts, highlighting operational performance issues to management.
• Prepare reports describing performance for discussion with other leaders.
