Job summary

BHP is seeking a Superintendent Coal Mining for Peak Downs open-pit operations in Queensland. You will lead on-site teams, drive safety, productivity and cost performance, and shape the site’s culture and planning.

The role reports to the Manager Production Load and Haul and requires a proactive, safety-focused leader who can influence improvements across shifts. Key responsibilities include task assignment, performance management, scheduling issues resolution, and input into weekly and longer

• Demonstrated leadership in large scale open-cut coal mining.
• Strong focus on safety, productivity and team development.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Assign and communicate tasks to on-site teams.
• Ensure safety, productivity, compliance and cost control.
• Manage team performance and scheduling to deliver the plan.
• Contribute to planning horizons and weekly planning.
• Identify performance improvements and drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee contractor management and environmental compliance.
• Prepare performance reports for leadership review.
