Job summary

Agilitus in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to lead mine design, production planning, and hydraulic mining initiatives across diverse projects. You will model feasibility, optimise operations, and deliver design deliverables with a focus on safety and sustainability.

You will work with Deswik CAD/Shed or MineSched, engage stakeholders, and contribute to reports and client presentations within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering required.
• Experience in mining consultancy or operating mines is preferred.
• Proficient with mining software such as Deswik CAD/Shed or MineSched.

Responsibilities

• Develop mine designs and production plans including pit design, staging and scheduling.
• Prepare and maintain mining models using Deswik and/or MineSched.
• Undertake hydraulic mining design activities: production modelling, layout design, pipelines and infrastructure.
• Analyse operational performance and identify optimisation opportunities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, safe, and sustainable solutions.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mining Engineer to join our Brisbane team.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of mining projects, contributing to feasibility studies, operational optimisation, and engineering design. You will play a key role in delivering innovative solutions across the mining lifecycle, with a particular focus on hydraulic mining applications.

Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of industry specialists, you will have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise while supporting the delivery of complex and impactful projects for our clients.

As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will:

• Develop mine designs and production plans, including pit design, staging, and scheduling.
• Prepare and maintain mining models using Deswik and/or MineSched.

Undertake hydraulic mining design activities, including:

• Production modelling (throughput, availability, and slurry density)
• Equipment selection and layout design, including mining units, pipelines, and associated infrastructure
• Contribute to feasibility studies, technical assessments, and engineering design deliverables
• Analyse operational performance and identify opportunities for optimisation and continuous improvement
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver practical, safe, and sustainable solutions for clients

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering
• Demonstrated experience in mining engineering, preferably within consulting and/or operational mining environments
• Proficiency in mining software, including Deswik CAD and Deswik Shed (preferred) or MineSched
• Exposure to or experience in hydraulic mining applications (highly regarded)
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise, and professional technical reports
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on delivering practical outcomes
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
