Job summary

EMtek Pty Ltd in Australia is seeking Senior SMP Designers to join a growing team across Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. You will lead mechanical design projects, coordinate with other disciplines, and contribute to the development of mining-related equipment and infrastructure.

The role offers full-time employment with flexibility and opportunities to work from multiple state offices, with a focus on safe, collaborative engineering practices and project delivery across diverse minerals

Qualifications

• 7+ years of multidisciplinary design experience in mining and resources sectors.
• Experience in mining, minerals processing, and bulk materials handling.
• Familiarity with Bentley MicroStation and Prosteel design tools.
• Strong presentation and communication skills at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Management, ownership and coordination of mechanical design projects from feasibility through detailed design.
• Detailed design of mechanical elements such as conveyors, surge bins, chutes and transfer stations.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation to ensure integration with plant design.
• Prepare design drawings with sufficient detail for fabrication when required.

With a growing team and multiple projects in the pipeline, we are currently seeking Senior SMP Designers to join our team across all our offices – Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. Reporting to the Design Manager, the role is responsible for contributing to the design and development of mechanical systems and components for mining-related equipment and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Management, ownership and coordination of mechanical design projects from feasibility level through to detailed design.
• Detailed design of mechanical elements, such as conveyors, surge bins, chutes and transfer stations
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (e.g. civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure coordination and integration of mechanical elements with overall plant design
• Prepare design drawings with sufficient detail for fabrication where required .

Skills and experience

• Tertiary qualification in mechanical design, with 7+ years of Multidisciplinary design experience in the mining and resources sector.
• Relevant experience in mining, minerals processing, and/or bulk materials handling industries.
• Experience across a range of commodities, including gold, copper, lithium and iron ore, is favourable
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations governing mechanical design in the Australian mining sector.
• Familiarity with engineering design software packages such as Bentley MicroStation and Prosteel.
• Good presentation and communication skills at all levels.
• Demonstrated understanding of industry safety and environmental standards.
• Multi-discipline experience is advantageous
