Job summary

Xenco Services is seeking an experienced Mine Planning Engineer to join a leading Gold Mining Operation on the East Coast of Australia. This FIFO role on an 8/6 roster requires extensive underground hard-rock mining expertise and the ability to develop practical mine plans that align with safety and site priorities.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Mining Operations and Technical Services to optimise sequences, monitor performance, and deliver achievable production targets.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mine Planning Engineer within an underground mining environment.
• Strong underground hard-rock mining experience is essential.
• Experience within underground Gold mining would be highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of underground mine planning, design, scheduling and production processes.
• Demonstrated ability to develop practical and achievable mine plans that support operational delivery.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret mining data and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ability to work closely with Mining Operations and Technical Services teams.
• Strong understanding of underground mining methods and production/development requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational performance.
• Strong commitment to safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain underground mine plans, designs and schedules to support production and development targets.
• Prepare short- and medium-term mine plans and integrate with operational requirements.
• Work closely with Operations and Technical Services teams to ensure plans are practical and aligned with site priorities.
• Monitor actual mining performance against plan and identify variances, risks and opportunities.
• Provide technical planning support to optimise mining sequences, development and production activities.
• Review and update mine designs and schedules in response to changing operational requirements.
• Analyse mining data and performance to support planning decisions and improve outcomes.
• Support the development of production and development schedules with available resources and constraints.
• Identify opportunities to improve mine planning processes, productivity and efficiency.
• Provide practical technical advice to site leadership.

This is a FIFO opportunity on an 8/6 roster. The role will suit an experienced Mine Planning Engineer with a strong underground hard-rock mining background, who can develop practical mine plans and schedules that support safe, efficient and achievable production and development outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

• Developing and maintaining underground mine plans, designs and schedules to support production and development targets


• Preparing short- and medium-term mine plans and integrating these with operational requirements


• Working closely with Mining Operations and Technical Services teams to ensure plans are practical, achievable and aligned with site priorities


• Monitoring actual mining performance against plan and identifying variances, risks and opportunities


• Providing technical planning support to optimise mining sequences, development and production activities


• Reviewing and updating mine designs and schedules in response to changing operational requirements


• Analysing mining data and performance to support planning decisions and improve operational outcomes


• Supporting the development of production and development schedules, ensuring appropriate consideration is given to resources, equipment and operational constraints


• Identifying opportunities to improve mine planning processes, productivity and efficiency


• Providing practical technical advice and recommendations to operational and site leadership teams


• Ensuring mine plans and schedules are developed in accordance with relevant safety, regulatory and site requirements
