Job summary

Goonyella Riverside Mine in Bowen Basin, Queensland, Australia is seeking an exceptional Specialist Engineer to join our Mine Planning team, shaping how we operate today and plan for tomorrow at Australia’s largest autonomous coal mine.

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Planning, you will lead the short-term schedule, SRF and weekly horizons, integrate multiple planning disciplines, and provide data-driven insights to site leadership while driving continuous improvement and safety.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in mine planning across scheduling, load and haul, drill & blast, coal planning.
• Proficiency in mine planning software (Spry, Vulcan, Deswik or similar).
• Collaborative, team-focused approach with strong communication skills.
• Ability to influence, engage and work with diverse stakeholders.
• Exposure to autonomous environments, fleet management systems and real-time data analysis is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of the site's short-term schedule including the Short-Range Forecast (SRF) and Weekly scheduling horizons.
• Integrate multiple mine planning disciplines into an integrated scheduling environment.
• Ensure tactical direction is fit-for-purpose, clearly communicated, and aligned across Planning, Survey, Geotechnical, and Production teams.
• Provide clear, data-driven insights to support decision-making for site engineering and leadership teams.
• Drive performance and continuous improvement through management of performance, problem solving, and improvement projects.
• Comply with relevant policies, Our Requirements (ORs), and the SHMS.
