Job summary

ProFound People is seeking a Senior Mechanical/Mechatronics Design Engineer in Sydney to lead end-to-end product development for automation equipment. You will own complex electromechanical designs, integrate PCBs and motors, and drive from concept through prototyping to mass production with limited oversight.

You will collaborate with electrical/firmware engineers, apply DF M/DF A in production readiness, and mentor teammates in a growing engineering function within a well-supported, in-house

Qualifications

• Senior-level end-to-end product development experience from concept to mass production.
• Ability to own and drive projects autonomously with minimal oversight.
• Experience bridging mechanical and electronic/firmware interfaces.
• Hands-on approach with prototyping, testing, and problem-solving in workshops.

Responsibilities

• Design motor-driven mechanisms and actuation systems.
• Create plastic housings/enclosures around electromechanical assemblies.
• Collaborate with electrical/firmware engineers to integrate PCBs, motors and wiring.
• Run testing (cyclic, wear, environmental, destructive) to validate designs.
• Apply DF M/DF A principles with suppliers to achieve production readiness.
• Contribute to design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
