Job summary

Ampersand Ltd in Melbourne is seeking a Design & Project Engineer to own the mechanical design of automation and robotic projects from concept to install. You will coordinate end-to-end project delivery, work with internal and external designers, ensure compliance with Australian machinery safety standards (AS 4024) and support on-site installations with interstate and international travel.

Ideal candidates hold a degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering and have 5+ years' experience in

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or similar field.
5+ years of engineering experience in automation or robotic systems.
Experience managing automation projects from design to installation.
Strong knowledge of Australian machinery safety standards (AS 4024).
Proficient in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor).

Responsibilities

Concept, design and detail mechanical content of robot cells and automation systems.
Coordinate end-to-end projects including planning, timing and budgets.
Collaborate with internal and external mechanical and electrical designers.
Ensure designs meet safety standards and customer requirements.
Provide mechanical input to quotes and assist in pre-sales opportunities.
Support on-site installs with interstate and international travel.
