Job summary

Primero is recruiting for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Team on an ongoing, full time basis. Based at our Perth head office, you will provide engineering advice to minerals processing projects across multiple commodities.

We value a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and 15+ years in minerals processing design. Chartered professional status is desirable, with a strong emphasis on technical leadership, safety, and cross‑discipline collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 15+ years' experience in minerals processing design.
• Experience as a Design Engineer delivering minerals processing projects.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (desired).
• Proven ability to provide technical expertise to engineering teams.
• Strong multi-discipline design delivery understanding in minerals processing.
• Knowledge of statutory and industry regulations and HSE practices.
• Solid engineering theory and practical application knowledge.
• Advanced level of technical detail in engineering design.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance of project design products with the Design Procedure.
• Ensure design products comply with legislation, standards, client, third party and project requirements.
• Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with project schedule and budget.
• Provide advice and expertise to the design progress, issues, holds, change, risk, and deliverables register.
• Ensure designs are fit for purpose considering cost, constructability, operability, and maintainability.
