Job summary

AirTrunk, based at our North Sydney headquarters, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our global project pipeline and drive the continuous improvement of mechanical standards, reference designs and OSE products. You will work across Design and Innovation, Development, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Typically 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Chartered or Professional Engineer status is preferred.
• Strong experience in data centres or high-availability facilities.
• Expertise in cooling and thermal systems, ventilation, hydraulics, and life-safety interfaces.
• Ability to review complex designs and provide evidence-based recommendations.
• Experience with mechanical equipment specs, vendor engagement and design integration.
• Able to develop scalable solutions across climates/regions and manage lifecycle value.
• Commercial awareness and a readiness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform risk-based mechanical design reviews across project stages with documented actions.
• Assess designs against reference design, standards, specs and codes.
• Provide timely mechanical guidance to consultants and project teams.
• Support design management in issue resolution while preserving ownership of coordination.
• Review CFD studies against project requirements and global standards.
• Identify deviations and escalate material decisions with options and recommendations.
• Develop scalable mechanical solutions accommodating climate, regulation, and supply constraints.
• Mentor engineers and promote consistent interpretation of AirTrunk mechanical requirements across regions.
