Job summary

Climatech Group in Sydney is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of hyperscale data centre projects. You will own the design delivery from concept through IFC, overseeing a team of engineers and BIM/drafting resources while coordinating with clients and contractors.

You bring a degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years in mechanical/HVAC design, with data centre or mission-critical experience highly regarded. NSW/VIC regulatory awareness a plus.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience in mechanical/HVAC design
• Experience designing mechanical services for data centres or mission-critical facilities
• Deep knowledge of chilled water systems, central plant, air-side design and BMS/controls integration
• Experience delivering staged design packages under D&C or head contract models
• Familiarity with Australian Standards, the NCC, and Uptime Institute concepts

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of hyperscale data centre projects — chilled water plant, large-bore pipework, air-side systems and controls integration.
• Own design delivery through all staged design milestones (concept, 60%, 90%, IFC / LOD300–LOD500).
• Act as the senior technical voice in design reviews and coordination workshops with clients, head contractors, consultants and certifiers.
• Prepare and approve design deliverables — drawings, calculations, equipment selections, submittals and review responses.
• Drive design for prefabrication with procurement and construction teams to maximise off-site manufacture.
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of mechanical design engineers and BIM/drafting resources across projects.
• Support construction and commissioning teams through to Integrated Systems Testing and handover.
