Job summary

New Edge Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – HVAC to lead the design and delivery across commercial, industrial, healthcare, new-build and refurbishment projects in Sydney. The role reports to the HVAC Design Managers and is based full-time from our Wetherill Park office.

You will be involved across the full lifecycle from concept and detailed design through construction, commissioning and handover. 5–10 years’ experience in HVAC design and NCC knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• 5–10 years’ experience in HVAC design and engineering.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and design principles.
• Experience with NCC and relevant Australian Standards.
• Demonstrated experience leading HVAC projects through design, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of technical reports, specifications and project correspondence.
• NER accreditation and/or Engineers Australia membership will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC design and delivery across a range of projects from concept to handover.
• Oversee design, construction, commissioning and handover phases.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications and project correspondence.
• Coordinate with engineering teams and site personnel to ensure quality and compliance.

New Edge Group is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer – HVAC to join our growing Engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to take a senior technical role across a diverse range of commercial, industrial, healthcare, new-build and refurbishment projects. The position will report to the HVAC Design Managers and will be based full-time from our Wetherill Park office.

About the Role

You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through construction, commissioning and handover.

Key requirements include:

5–10 years’ experience in HVAC design and engineering, ideally within a mechanical contractor or engineering consultancy.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification.

Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment and design principles.

Experience with CAMEL heat-load calculations, airside system design and hydronic/water system design.

Sound knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards.

Demonstrated experience leading HVAC projects through design, construction, commissioning and handover.

Strong technical problem-solving and coordination skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of technical reports, specifications and project correspondence.

NER accreditation and/or membership with Engineers Australia will be highly regarded.

Candidates with substantial site engineering experience are also encouraged to apply.
