Job summary

Tech Recruit Australia is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to design conveyor and material handling systems in the City of Hume, Victoria. You will deliver full lifecycle engineering from concept through to commissioning, including detailed calculations for load, speed, torque, and throughput.

You will collaborate with electrical, controls, and automation engineers, attend client meetings and design workshops, and support on-site installation, testing and commissioning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in mechanical design engineering (automation/conveyors ideal).
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (or similar 3D CAD tools) is a MUST.
• Exposure to e-commerce logistics, warehousing, or distribution automation.

Responsibilities

• Design conveyor and material handling systems from concept to installation.
• Deliver full lifecycle engineering from concept design through to installation and commissioning.
• Perform mechanical design calculations (load, speed, torque, throughput, drive selection).
• Work closely with electrical, controls, and automation engineers to integrate full systems.
• Attend client meetings, site reviews, and technical design workshops.
• Support fabrication, installation, testing, and troubleshooting on-site.
• Ensure all designs meet safety, compliance, and performance standards (AS/NZS & international standards).
• Contribute to continuous improvement in system design and efficiency.
