Job summary

Core Talent is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) to lead complex healthcare projects across Australia. You will guide the full design lifecycle from concept through delivery, ensuring compliant and high-performing solutions.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in design roles across Hospitals, Labs and Commercial sectors, with Mechanical Engineering and Chartership (or progression). Salary around $160-$180k plus super, with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience in a design role across Hospitals, Labs and Commercial projects.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Chartered status or working towards.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the detailed design and optimization of HVAC systems for healthcare and commercial projects across Australia.
• Collaborate with project managers, construction teams and stakeholders to ensure quality delivery.
• Champion sustainable design and energy-efficient engineering strategies across projects.
• Prepare design briefs, specifications and detailed engineering designs for air, water and RHVAC systems in line with Australian standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Job description

Our client is a leading Australian HVAC contractor delivering high-quality, innovative mechanical HVAC solutions across the healthcare and commercial sectors nationwide. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) to take a leading role in the design of complex healthcare projects across Australia.

You will provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from concept design through to delivery. You will work closely with project delivery teams to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-performing HVAC solutions.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be:

• Leading the detailed design and optimisation of HVAC systems for D&C projects across Australia
• Collaborating closely with project managers, construction teams, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality project delivery
• Championing sustainable design outcomes, integrating smart and energy-efficient engineering strategies
• Preparing design briefs, specifications, and detailed engineering designs for air systems, water systems, and RHVAC systems in accordance with relevant Australian standards and project requirements
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers where required

We would be interested in talking to candidates currently working at Senior level with 10+ years’ experience in a Design role plus experience across Hospitals, Labs and Commercial projects. If you have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and have or are working towards Chartership we would love to have a conversation. You will have an influential role within the companies Design team mentoring younger Engineers as they develop.
