Job summary

Commonwealth Bank is seeking a Senior Manager Risk and Control Advisory and Delivery to support the Global Head of Line 1 Risk & Valuation Control. You will drive consistency, governance and oversight of non-financial risks and controls within IB&M Finance, engaging senior stakeholders to uplift risk capability.

• Banking/financial services experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Prepare risk reporting for non-financial risk committees and forums with high-quality, relevant information for oversight and decision-making.
• Identify opportunities to improve risk reporting processes, including automation, and drive uplift of design and implementation.
• Design and implement controls or support the business to do so.
• Ensure risks are profiled in the Risk Profile (RCSA) and updated when trigger events occur.
• Lead root cause analyses of issues and incidents, implementing control improvements.
• Conduct and manage CAP testing, develop test scripts, and report findings.
• Prepare information for strategic planning; track and report on the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS).
• Administer governance forums, including minutes and action management.
• Participate in group-wide working groups to improve risk and control environments.

Senior Manager Risk and Control Advisory and Delivery

This role reports directly to the Global Head of Line 1 Risk & Valuation Control, IB&M Finance. Your role is to support the IB&M Finance team in providing robust oversight, governance, and management of non-financial risks and controls. You’ll be responsible for driving consistency, simplicity and efficiency into the risk reporting and governance processes. You will engage and influence a broad range of stakeholders to uplift risk capability across IB&M Finance with a focus on the Global Markets Product Control framework. This is a broad and dynamic role where the ability to engage a large and varied stakeholder group, including several senior leaders, and translate policy into practice is a critical success factor.

The IB&M Finance Line 1 Risk team governs and supports the wider team in achieving excellence in risk management and operating an effective control environment. The IB&M Finance Line 1 Risk team aims to achieve a demonstrable uplift in risk management and controls activities.

On any given day you will

• Be responsible for preparing risk reporting for FS non-financial risk committees and forums, ensuring that high-quality, relevant and consistent information is provided to oversee and manage operational and compliance risk and to facilitate decision-making.
• Apply experience and knowledge to identify opportunities for improvement in risk reporting processes including automation, and drive uplift design and implementation.
• Responsible for the design and implementation / support the business to design and implement controls.
• Responsible for ensuring risks are profiled and captured in the Risk Profile (RCSA) and update when risk trigger events occur.
• Manage root cause analysis of issues and incidents, identifying and implementing control improvements.
• Conduct and manage Control Assurance Program (CAP) testing, including the development of test scripts, and report on assurance findings.
• Prepare information to support the strategic planning process and conduct analysis, tracking and reporting on the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS).
• Administer governance forums, including preparation, minuting and action management.
• Participate in Group wide working groups for improving the risk and control environment, with a view to manage impacts and positively influence outcomes for FS.

• Demonstrated ability to identify and assess risks, recommend pragmatic solutions and strengthen control environments.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability, with the confidence to constructively challenge, consult and build trusted relationships at all levels.
• Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity, applying sound professional judgement to make balanced risk decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex risk matters and communicate them clearly.
• Proven experience leading change, uplifting controls and driving continuous improvement.
• Experience within banking, financial services, finance or accounting would be highly regarded.
• Knowledge of operational risk and compliance, with exposure to Markets, complex banking products or product controls highly desirable.
• Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, risk or a related business discipline would be advantageous.
