Job summary

Allianz Sydney seeks a Senior Manager, Risk and Compliance to lead the design and enhancement of risk and governance across our claims environment. You will provide practical risk and compliance guidance to business leaders, strengthen controls, and drive sustainable improvements in a changing digital landscape.

You will partner with business and technology teams to embed effective Line 1 risk management and governance into decision-making, while promoting a culture of proactive risk management

Qualifications

• 6-10 years' experience in Operational Risk, Risk & Compliance, Controls, or Governance within regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of risk and compliance frameworks and controls.
• Experience advising across business change, transformation, digitisation or automation.

As the Senior Manager, Risk & Compliance, you'll play a key role in

effective risk and compliance management across a changing and increasingly digital claims environment. Partnering with business leaders, you'll provide trusted risk and compliance advice, strengthen governance and controls, and help the business navigate regulatory obligations, emerging risks and transformation.

• Lead the design and enhancement of risk and compliance activities, including, governance, controls and emerging areas such as automated claims and straight-through processing environments.
• Provide practical risk and compliance advice on business change helping in identify and manage risks early.
• Partner with the business to embed strong Line 1 risk management practices and governance practices into day-today decision-making
• Bring strong controls expertise to help assess and enhance the control environment, identify gaps and support proportionate and sustainable improvements.
• Monitor incidents, issues, key risk indicators and emerging risks, providing actionable insights to business leaders.
• Support the business to understand and meet its regulatory and compliance obligations, particularly as processes, technology and customer interactions evolve.
• Promote a strong risk and controls culture through stakeholder engagement, coaching, and practical risk advice.

About you

• Ideally 6-10 years' experience in Operational Risk, Risk & Compliance, Controls, or Governance within insurance or financial services or another highly regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of risk and compliance frameworks and controls, with the ability to assess risk, identify gaps and support practical and sustainable improvements.
• Experience providing risk and compliance advice across business change, transformation, digitisation or automation, with an ability to identify emerging risks as operating models evolve.
• Proven ability to partner with business and technology teams to embed effective Line 1 risk management, compliance and governance into business decisions.
• Strong understanding of regulatory obligations, issue and incident management, remediation and control practices, with the ability to translate requirements into practical business outcomes.
• Strong judgement and constructive challenge, with the confidence to identify when risks require escalation while remaining solutions-focused.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and communicate complex risk and compliance matters clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and build risk capability in others, contributing to a strong and accountable risk culture.
