The University of Western Australia is seeking a senior finance professional to shape the University's financial future through strategic planning, forecasting and high-impact analysis. You will join a collaborative finance team delivering insights that influence key decisions across the University.

The role offers a full-time ongoing appointment with a base salary ranging from AU$120,912 to AU$132,161 per year, plus 17% superannuation.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Full professional membership of a recognised Australian accounting body.
• Substantial and extensive experience in financial planning for large organisations with multiple funding arrangements.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating, preparing and monitoring complex consolidated budgets, forecasting and income/expenditure management.
• Highly developed analytical and report writing skills, with demonstrated experience in balancing big picture with financial accuracy and attention to detail.

About the area

The role of Finance is to support the appropriate stewardship of the University’s finance through the provision of a strategic financial and commercial advice, establishment of a financial management framework, financial management tools, procurement, management of the University’s Investment and Endowment portfolio, as well as financial oversight and accountability for finance administrative and transactional operations.

Finance undertakes this role through four core pillars: Financial Compliance, Financial Performance, Treasury & Investment and Procurement.

In undertaking this role, Finance operates support across the University, from advising the Vice-Chancellery, Executive, and Senior leadership team on strategy and performance to supporting staff and students in their purchases and travel arrangements.

About the opportunity

• In collaboration with the Senior Manager, define and develop the annual budget and regular reforecasting process, including budget/forecasting guidelines and detailed timetables.
• Use quantitative and qualitative data (including costing models) to develop driver-based planning insights, what-if scenarios and long-term financial impact projections.
• Understand and advise on planning models and underlying business drivers, contribute to model changes, use multiple analytical tools to validate assumptions and outcomes, and ensure the integrity of data within the budgeting and forecasting models and systems.

About you
