Classification: Senior Manager 1 (Administration)Salary package: $141,637 - $148,403 per annum plus 17% superannuation

Term: Full time, Fixed term (until 31 December 2028)

Position overview

The Australian National University, one of the world's leading research universities, has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced finance leader to join the University's Finance and Business Services Division (F&BS).

F&BS supports the University's strategic and operational goals through the provision of professional financial management, planning, reporting and business partnering services. The Finance Manager is a key member of the Finance Business Partnering team and works closely with senior leaders across Colleges and Portfolio areas to provide strategic financial advice, support decision-making and ensure effective stewardship of University resources.

The position is responsible for leading a finance team and delivering high-quality financial management services, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, business case development, performance reporting and financial analysis. The role provides trusted advice to senior management, supports the development and implementation of financial strategies, and contributes to the achievement of the University's strategic objectives. The Finance Manager also plays a key role in driving continuous improvement initiatives, strengthening financial capability across the client group, and ensuring compliance with University policies and financial governance requirements.

The successful candidate will hold relevant tertiary qualifications with CA or CPA membership and have substantial experience providing strategic financial leadership within a large and complex organisation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong financial planning and analysis capabilities, excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, proven people leadership experience, and the ability to influence decision-making through the provision of insightful and pragmatic financial advice. Experience in the higher education sector and proficiency with enterprise financial systems, including TM1, will be highly regarded.
