Job summary

UNSW Kensington Campus is seeking a Senior Group Reporting & Consolidation Analyst to lead end-to-end group reporting, balance sheet and cashflow review, and provide insightful commentary to support senior management decisions. This role sits within the Finance team, collaborating with Partners and colleagues to ensure accurate, timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, with a CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent).
• Substantial experience in management reporting, budgeting and forecasting in a large commercial organisation.
• Proven skills in developing financial forecasting models integrating P&L, balance sheet and cashflow statements.
• Strong computer and business intelligence skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word; experience with Calumo, TM1, Hyperion Essbase, Power BI or similar tools.
• Working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Ability to absorb information quickly and analyse complex data.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver on time.
• Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute month-end and year-end reporting packs for Parent and Group.
• Review financial performance and variances across entities.
• Collaborate with Finance Partners and Managers to ensure timely, high-quality information.
• Own end-to-end Group reporting, including assets, liabilities and headcount.
• Provide variance analysis and actionable business insights for senior management.
• Undertake balance sheet and cashflow reporting, ad-hoc analysis.
• Ensure data integrity before submission to senior management.
• Drive efficiency and improve management reporting with dashboards.

Financial Planning and Analysis oversees budget setting, forecasting and management reporting processes to accurately monitor the financial performance of UNSW Sydney.

As the Senior Group Reporting & Consolidation Analyst, you will provide management reporting and analysis, including balance sheet and cashflow reviews to track financial performance across key indicators. You will translate complex data and analytical findings into meaningful advice and guidance that supports senior management decision-making and University objectives.

The role works to time-sensitive reporting deadlines, with occasional out-of-hours and weekend work required during busy periods. The position reports to the Senior Manager Group Reporting & Consolidation and has no direct reports.

Responsibilities Summary

• Prepare and distribute month-end and year-end business unit reporting packs and maintain Parent and Group consolidated analysis and reports.
• Review and analyse the financial performance, expenditure and position of UNSW Sydney’s parent and controlled entities, identifying drivers of variations and initiating remedial action where required.
• Act as a key point of contact for Finance Business Partners, Finance Managers and Analysts, collaborating to ensure timely inputs and accurate, high-quality information and commentary for stakeholders.
• Own end-to-end preparation of Parent and Group reporting across relevant areas, including fixed assets, financial assets and liabilities, restricted cash, internal eliminations and headcount reporting.
• Prepare insightful variance analysis and translate findings into meaningful business advice for senior management.
• Undertake balance sheet and cashflow reporting and analysis, including review monthly variances and undertake ad-hoc analysis of material movements.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data prior to submission to senior management.
• Drive efficiencies and quality improvements in management reporting, including contributing to business intelligence dashboard reporting and process enhancements.
• Liaise with finance colleagues, Financial Control & Compliance, treasury, faculties, divisions and controlled entities to facilitate information flow and manage stakeholder needs.
• Coach and mentor more junior staff to build capability, understanding and productivity.

Skills and Experience Summary

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, with a CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent).
• Substantial experience in management reporting, budgeting and forecasting in a large commercial organisation, or a similar group or divisional financial planning and analysis or management reporting role.
• Proven skills in developing financial forecasting models integrating P&L, balance sheet and cashflow statements.
• Well-developed computer and business intelligence expertise, including proficiency in Excel (including data visualisation), PowerPoint and Word. Experience with Calumo, TM1, Hyperion Essbase, Power BI or similar tools will be highly regarded.
• Demonstrable working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Ability to rapidly absorb information and analyse, interpret and integrate ambiguous and complex data.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver results within required timetable and quality parameters.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated experience working with a broad range of stakeholders and customers.
• Self-motivation, intellectual curiosity and a strong drive for continuous improvement.
