The University of Western Australia invites applications for a tenure-track position in climate science within the School of Agriculture and Environment. The appointee will deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching that connects climate science, earth observation and climate policy, while growing an independent research program and supervising Honours and postgraduate students.

Qualifications

• PhD in climate science, environmental science, geography or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in climate modelling and/or climate-relevant data analysis, supported by a track record of high-quality peer-reviewed research relative to opportunity.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver innovative teaching and assessment across online and field-based settings, with the capacity to coordinate units.
• Experience supervising or co-supervising Honours, Masters or higher research degree students.
• Emerging record in competitive research funding applications.

The Department of Environmental Science operates within the UWA School of Agriculture and Environment, with strong collaborations with researchers and teaching programs within the School of Biological Sciences and School of Earth and Oceans. The Department hosts the Centre for Water and Spatial Science (CWSS), the Resilient Landscapes Hub of the National Environmental Science Program (NESP), and facilities of Australia’s Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network (TERN). The Department seeks to provide independent and evidence-based research to support our understanding of the environment, including best management practices. In doing so, the Department has earnt top national and international rankings and is responsible for the delivery of several undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The Department also works closely with our industry and government partners to provide students practical experience in applying their knowledge and skills to real-world environmental challenges.

• Build an independent and collaborative research program, publish in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, pursue competitive research funding, and supervise Honours, Masters and PhD researchers.
• Strengthen the School’s impact through partnerships with industry, government and community, student placements, professional engagement, and active contribution to academic governance and collegial life.

About you
