Job summary

Macmahon is seeking a Senior Management Accountant to join the Finance team at the Perth head office. You will provide reporting to key stakeholders, perform management and financial accounting, build financial models, and support commercial decision-making for Surface Mining Australia.

You will lead month-end close processes, analyse variances, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with project teams to drive efficiency and profitability.

Qualifications

• CPA or CA qualification required.
• 5+ years of accounting experience in medium-sized public companies.
• Strong management accounting and financial modelling skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• Experience in Surface Mining Operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of financial reports and month-end close.
• Analyse financial data to monitor costs, variances and profitability.
• Ensure all financial records comply with laws and internal policies.
• Attend Balance Sheet reconciliations for the entity.
• Participate in regular project and team meetings to improve operations.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager – Finance, this Senior Management Accountant role will provide reporting to key stakeholders, a broad range of management and financial accounting, financial modelling and general commercial support to the Surface Mining Australia business.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of financial reports, including attending to the month-end close process.
• Analyse financial data to monitor costs, identify variances, and recommend strategies to improve efficiency and profitability.
• Ensure all financial records comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
• Attend to Balance Sheet reconciliations for the legal entity.
• Participate in regular project and team meetings to improve understanding of the operations and business.

What You’ll Bring

• CPA or CA qualification
• Minimum 5 years' accounting experience with exposure to medium sized public companies
• Strong management accounting and financial modelling skills
• Flexibility to travel occasionally to further develop company stakeholder relationships
• Experience within Surface Mining Operations (preferred)
• Location: Macmahon Head Office – Perth (Near T2)
• Roster: Monday to Friday
