Job summary

Ampol Limited is seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer to lead major maintenance programs and drive asset reliability across its NSW operations, including sites in Kurnell or Banksmeadow. Reporting to the Maintenance Improvement Manager, you will guide planning, execution, and contractor management to ensure safe, compliant, and cost‑effective asset performance.

With a tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related discipline and strong CMMS knowledge (SAP preferred), you will influence

• Tertiary qualification or trade certification in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Strong CMMS knowledge (preferably SAP).
• Extensive experience in maintenance, reliability, engineering, or project delivery roles.
• Proven track record leading major maintenance programs, shutdowns, or complex projects.
• Strong understanding of asset integrity, reliability, maintenance, and risk management principles.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Manage contractors and service providers to deliver safe, compliant, high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.

About the role

Reporting to the Maintenance Improvement Manager, the Senior Maintenance Engineer plays a pivotal role in leading the planning and execution of major maintenance programs and equipment turnaround and inspection campaigns to support the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of Ampol's assets. This role provides technical leadership across complex maintenance activities, drives maintenance excellence, enhances contractor performance, and collaborates closely with operations and engineering teams to optimise asset integrity, reliability, and long-term asset performance. This role can be based in Kurnell or Banksmeadow, NSW.

Key responsibilities

Lead major maintenance programs and inspection and repair campaigns, including planning, scope development, scheduling, and execution.

Manage contractors and service providers to deliver safe, compliant, high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.

Drive asset reliability and integrity through effective maintenance delivery, CMMS governance, technical specifications, and testing requirements.

Build strong stakeholder relationships, proactively managing risks, communicating progress, and coordinating cross-functional teams.

Qualifications & Experience

Tertiary qualification or trade certification in Engineering, Maintenance, or a related technical discipline, with strong CMMS knowledge (preferably SAP).

Extensive experience in maintenance, reliability, engineering, or project delivery roles, with a proven track record leading major maintenance programs, shutdowns, or complex projects.

Strong understanding of asset integrity, reliability, maintenance, and risk management principles in industrial environments.

Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and influence multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve safe and successful outcomes.

Commercially astute with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, balancing safety, operational, and financial priorities.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with expertise in requirements validation, analytical processes, continuous improvement, and driving operational excellence.
