Job summary

Suncorp seeks a Senior Liability Underwriter to manage and underwrite a Liability portfolio in Australia. The role covers large and complex programs with strong broker relationships, operating from Brisbane or Sydney with a focus on technical underwriting and portfolio growth.

You will apply robust underwriting judgement, review risk information, and collaborate with senior leadership to drive performance while identifying quality new business and maintaining discipline across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Strong Australian Liability product underwriting experience (3+ years)
• Excess Liability experience is advantageous
• Experience underwriting large or complex insurance programs
• Construction and/or Mining underwriting experience desirable
• Strong technical understanding of Liability products and risk exposures
• Confident dealing with brokers and other market stakeholders
• Sound commercial judgement and ability to manage an underwriting portfolio
• Market-facing experience beneficial, not heavily production-focused
• Collaborative with senior underwriting stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Managing and underwriting an established Liability portfolio
• Assessing complex risks across broad-form Liability
• Underwriting large and complex insurance programs
• Developing strong broker and market relationships
• Applying sound technical underwriting judgement within delegated authority
• Reviewing risk information, exposures and policy structures
• Working closely with senior underwriting leadership on portfolio performance
• Supporting the continued growth and development of the Liability portfolio
• Maintaining strong underwriting discipline while identifying quality new business opportunities
