Job summary

The Brisbane head office of a major mining services business is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join as a genuine 2IC to the General Counsel. You will advise on mining services contracts, procurement, and construction matters, and work closely with senior management on governance and risk.

This hands-on role offers autonomy, broad exposure to major projects, and competitive remuneration around AUD 280k–290k plus a performance bonus, with flexible working arrangements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' post-qualification experience in corporate or commercial law.
• Experience advising on mining, resources, energy, or construction contracts.
• Ability to engage with senior executives and Board.
• Hands-on governance, risk management and business advisory matters.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate major mining services, procurement, equipment supply and construction contracts.
• Advise on tenders, variations, claims and commercial negotiations.
• Provide practical legal advice to commercial and operational teams.
• Support corporate governance, risk management and compliance.
• Collaborate with General Counsel and senior management on strategic initiatives.
