Job summary
University of New South Wales (UNSW) Canberra invites applications for a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Stratospheric Physics. The role combines research leadership with teaching excellence and includes directing the Balloon Launching Station and coordinating cross-institutional collaborations.
The position offers a continuing, full-time appointment at Level C–D, with a generous remuneration package and superannuation.
Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in atmospheric physics, electronics or stratospheric ballooning.
- Commitment to keeping current with disciplinary knowledge and developments.
- Ability to contribute to and enhance teaching and research activities.
- Experience managing large-scale projects including contracts, tenders, risk management and budgeting.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to curriculum development and delivery in stratospheric physics.
- Serve as Station Director of the Balloon Launching Station in Alice Springs and collaborate with CSIRO, NASA and international space agencies.
- Publish research findings, supervise students and secure research funding.
- Build and nurture collaborations to strengthen both teaching and research outcomes.
